Dr Henry Edward Roberts, the “father of the personal computer”, has died at the age of 68. See here - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8600493.stm.
I am of the generation that can just about remember ads in Byte and other deceased magazines for his invention, the Altair 8800. While my first personal computer was a Sinclair ZX81, I remember the shape of the Altair 8800 as a futuristic 70s vision of what a computer should be. Thanks in part to that vision, we have the technology of today.
RIP Dr Roberts.
